Find out how we can help you navigate environmental markets

My supply is a new, free tool in the Abatable platform where project developers and suppliers can tell our team about the projects and credits they manage. With a clear picture of your supply, we can invite you to the RFPs that fit your projects and keep the rest out of your inbox.

‍

Stand still for a day in the carbon markets and you may miss a major new deal, two new RFPs and several newly approved ICVCM methodologies, sometimes before your morning coffee.

At Abatable, we observe every day how diverse and fast-moving the demand from our corporate and compliance buyers can be. We wouldn’t want it any other way - it keeps every corner of the market active and pushes forward the frontier of high-integrity, impactful climate action.

My team proudly spends its days working and interfacing with suppliers and the close relationships we’ve built along the way have shown that supply moves just as fast. The market asks a lot of the people doing the work on the ground, and project developers and suppliers keep rising to it.

All of this left us asking: what is a thriving carbon market, if we only ever have enough time to see a part of it?

Last week, we launched My supply, a new tool in the Abatable platform that brings us closer to the full range of suppliers we work with. Its goal is to help you have your supply in front of us earlier and more clearly - rather than waiting for occasional Request for Proposals (RFPs) to come your way. It gives you a way to tell us about your projects, and the story behind them instead of that being lost in call notes or email chains.

Since its launch, we’ve already seen great uptake, with new opportunities being identified for supply that our suppliers have submitted through it. In this blog, we’ll be sharing more details about what My supply does, how it helps you engage with real demand and what’s coming next.

The key takeaways before you read the rest:

  • This is a free-to-access, self-serve space for you to tell our team about projects and credits you manage or have access to.
  • What you share is never shown to buyers or seen as a firm offer.
  • Getting started and using it regularly means you’re more likely to get invited to RFPs that match your projects, keeping those that don’t out of your inbox and workload.
  • Whatever you submit to My supply can be used directly in an RFP submission and vice versa.

Free-to-use, familiar and RFP-ready much faster

If you’ve taken part in an Abatable procurement before, the first thing you’ll notice is that My supply will feel familiar. That is deliberate as we firmly believe that if it isn't broken, don’t fix it. To new users, we want the experience to feel intuitive from the first click.

We have made some elements more aerodynamic. The project form is simpler: fields are auto-filled with registry information we have without needing to ask you. The pricing form now has more room for you to set out your commercials clearly such as defining carbon profile and volume-based pricing at the vintage level and in turn removing the minimum price field.

And now, especially for our portfolio manager and trader friends, (drumroll please) we have bulk upload for larger portfolios, pipelines, and balance sheets too. If you already have a spreadsheet that could nicely fit into My supply, simply upload it and you’ll be able to review and amend all rows within minutes.

My supply and RFPs are best friends

Every submission you’ve made through an Abatable RFP, and every one you make from now on, is linked to My supply. We built it to save you time, so you never have to fill in the same information twice.

When a new RFP opens, you can import your My supply information with one click and then it works the other way too; you can import a previous RFP submission into My supply using the same button.

My supply is your direct line to the Abatable team that work on curating the demand and matching it to supply. The more complete and accurate information that you add, the more closely we can match RFP invitations to your projects which is more efficient for everyone.

We hope that the time this saves both enhances your experience with Abatable and frees up precious capacity for implementation, MRV, and securing sales.

Add, edit and withdraw on your terms

My supply is free, self-serve and entirely powered by trust. What is important to us is that it reflects your latest supply because we believe this significantly moves the needle when it comes to RFP participation and outcomes. When we were building it, we kept coming back to one question: how do we make this something suppliers actually want to use, and to keep using? Our answer was that it had to be an environment that they could trust and therefore one they can have complete control over.

Everything you add to My supply is both indicative and yours to edit from the moment you add it. We won’t put it in front of a buyer or treat it as an offer to call you up on. All we ask from you is to keep My supply in mind when something changes and update accordingly.

You can set a reminder for each project too so that, at a cadence of your choosing, you get an email prompting you to check that the information in My supply is the latest. If there’s nothing to update, that’s no problem - just can submit as is.

We’d suggest picking a schedule that suits each project. If a project won’t issue for 6 months, you’d probably not want a weekly or monthly reminder. If your portfolio sits in the sweet spot of what buyers want right now, a weekly update on your hottest projects as you make sales could be worth it. You can change the frequency or switch off reminders whenever you like.

Beyond reminders, My supply fits around how your organisation works. Sold out? A good time to withdraw that supply. Working through a new pricing strategy? Come back and update pricing once it’s settled. Just signed with an investor, community or landowner? Upload that pipeline project, ready for us to review.

What’s coming next

We’ve already started building the next set of My supply features. These include expanding automation to the qualitative questions  buyers ask most often, brighter and more engaging project pages, and, an incentive program.

So yes, a lot can happen in a day in the carbon markets. Let’s not stand still and let it get away from us. You can find My supply under Supplier tools in the Abatable platform. Tell us about your supply today.

We couldn’t have built a tool for suppliers without the insight, expertise and eye-for-detail of our suppliers. Thank you to everyone who helped test this first release. We welcome ongoing feedback as you use this tool - please email [email protected] with any feedback, bugs or suggestions for how we can make it better.
